BACKGROUND
Rear Admiral Steven Hackett is a highly decorated officer in the Systems Alliance Navy.
He was born in Buenos Aires in 2134 and was raised by a single mother. After losing her to the 2146 pandemic, he became a ward of the state, and was sent to the Advanced Training Academy for Juveniles where his exceptional aptitude in science and leadership set him apart early.
Hackett enlisted as soon as he turned 18, taking on high-risk campaigns as part of the Alliance's mission to colonize space beyond the Sol system. His natural leadership and tactical brilliance were standout qualities that accelerated his rise through the ranks. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2156, and soon demonstrated his abilities in the First Contact War.
His scientific background gave him an inherent grasp of the project's scope. The project itself was handled by departments of experts from every species of the galaxy, and Hackett oversaw them all.
Amidst this monumental effort, humanity's councilor was killed, and Hackett assumed command of all Alliance forces, becoming humanity's de facto leader. His role in the Crucible's development, in holding off an invasion of superior forces, and in preparing for the battle against the reapers proved vital to the Milky Way's survival.
